This was a big weekend for Purdue football recruiting with at least 10 visitors on campus, including the rare 4-star prospect. It ended up being a productive weekend, as Purdue grabbed two players, including one that was at a position of major need.

Excited to announce I have verbally committed to Purdue! #Boilerup https://t.co/n14qmGAGWI

The departure of Paul Griggs and complete inability of Darrell Hazell to give a walk-on kicker a chance when Griggs was struggling means Purdue was going after a kicker, and Dellinger looks pretty good. According to the Sailer kicking camp Dellinger is a good one. They rate him as a definite Division I prospect. He is unrated by the major recruiting services, but to even a get a 3-star rating is rare. Honestly, as long as he can kick the ball through the uprights with regularity he is fine with me. He has a simple job: put the ball through the uprights. His highlights include a 53 yarder, so he has the range we need:
Kamal Hardy – I have to admit that this commitment is a bit strange. Purdue loses its top two corners, but had a wealth of DBs coming out of redshirt. It still got a commitment from JuCo transfer Kamal Hardy, who was originally with Iowa State before switching to Purdue today. He comes to Purdue from Monroe Community College in New York and is listed as a 2-star cornerback. He originally played for National power St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, so he at least knows how to win.
What also makes this commitment bizarre is that Hardy says he does well in man coverage. Considering that Purdue rarely went with man coverage (or coverage at all) it seems like an odd pickup, but we will take the help. Hardy has two years of eligibility remaining, as a JuCo transfer he is being brought in as an instant impact player. Let’s hope he works out.
