Winter Storm Watch for Iowa City through Saturday morning

For those of you heading out to Iowa City for the Purdue/Iowa game, give yourself enough time to get to the stadium and wear warm clothing.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for most of Iowa, as the area is expected to receive 4-8 inches from Friday night through Saturday morning. At the moment, it seems like most of the snow should fall before 9am local time. However, winds are still expected to come out of the Northwest near 20 mph throughout the game with highs in the mid-20s.

This is associated with an extratropical cyclone coming off the Rocky Mountains. I don't think the snow will stick too much since the ground is still relatively warm throughout the Midwest, so the ground shouldn't be covered at game time. However, the wind and cold weather will certainly impact the game.
