9/20 Recruiting SIU Game

We really really really need to beat SIU. Obvious I know, but DH said this week on his radio show we might have 60 high schoolers on the sidelines. Notice how I said high schoolers and not recruits/prospects b/c we aren't recruiting (loose term) all of these kids. Some of the big names that are supposed to be there:

*Austrian Robinson* Official Visit DE out of NY profile

Aidan Smith profile

Tre Bryant profile

Luke Fortner profile

Seth Joest profile

Hunter Johnson (#1 QB in the Nation in his class according to some ppl) profile

Some of our current commits might be there as well like Sindelar, Jones, the OL from WL, the safety from Texas (Chelf?), and maybe some more?

Basketball:

Ryan Cline and Grant Weatherford (sp?) are there on their official(?) visits

Kyle Guy (their Indiana Elite teammate) profile

Jarron Cumberland (I really, really would like to see us get him) profile

Sidenote: he won't be at the game, but on Monday(?) the whole staff had an in-home visit w/ Caleb Swanigan. Pitch: You'll be featured like Carl Landry/Jajuan Johnson/AJ Hammons. You'll play your NBA position next to Haas. We have a ton of shooters to surround you. It's a solid pitch, except needs more proof of winning. Only way I see us pulling off this absurd coup is MSU is bad this season (not inconceivable), UK chokes in the Tourney and doesn't make the F4 and a bunch of ppl stay again (less inconceivable), we make the tourney (no comment), and Swanigan picks schools in the Spring (no idea).

Lastly, I'm going to stand on my soap box. I don't think some of you realize how poor of a state our "front office" to put it in NFL terms was prior to Hazell. Now I don't won't to just bash Hope and some of it was obviously due to Burke being frugal, but I think there is a serious lack of awareness of just how bad things were and how much they've improved now. Yes, we haven't seen the results yet on the field, but mostly everyone's expectation's last season were absurdly too high. We played one of the hardest schedules in the nation last season. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Shoop and there were obviously some things on the field that were very disappointing, but I think Hazell has us going in the right direction. He just needs time. Just look at some of the recruiting battles he's been able to win w/ our awful record. I know Burke will give him time, but I hope a giant ignorant mob doesn't form and hangs over the program criticizing its every decision. Here's to hopefully a big win over SIU and a great rest of the season. BTFU

I get all my stuff from free various sites/twitter/podcasts. Hopefully all the links work. If not just say something nicely
