The No. 15 jersey will always hold a special place in the hearts of Purdue fans because of Drew Brees. Even now, 14 years after he last wore the number, I still think of Brees when I see No. 15 on the field. Now a freshman will take over that number after Rob Henry had it for the last five years.
Trae Hart - Fr.
Mequite, TX (First Baptist Academy)
5'10", 157 pounds
Wide Receiver
2014 Projection: Possible contributor at wide receiver.
On numbers alone, Hart deserves at least a cursory look toward avoiding a redshirt this season. For First Baptist Academy the last two seasons he put up absolutely ridiculous numbers. In 2012 as a junior he had an astounding 108 receptions for 2,044 yards and 29 touchdowns in only 12 games. Last year he had more modest numbers, but mostly because his team was winning by ludicrous scores on its way to a 14-0 state championships season. He had 56 catches for 1,068 yards and 12 scores along with six interceptions on defense.
Those are numbers like Danny Anthrop put up in four seasons at Lafayette Central Catholic, where he scored over 100 touchdowns in four years. Hart is small, but as a fast receiver his speed may get him to the field in some capacity this year.
