Today's player is a developing redshirt freshman that has a special connection to the coaching staff, as he is the son of defensive coordinator Greg Hudson.
Garrett Hudson - Fr. (RS)
Tallahassee, FL (North Florida Christian HS)
6'3", 230 pounds
Linebacker
2014 Projection: reserve at linebacker
Hudson has recently been getting some run in practice in the two deeps at linebacker, but suffered a setback this week. He sustained a separated shoulder and is out for awhile, which is not good at a position that has a ton of competition going on right now.
Hudson is starting to show a little promise as a starting middle linebacker, which is one of the most important positions in the Big Ten. It is basically the quarterback of the defense, bust Hudson should at least have the knowledge to do well there. His dad was the linebackers coach at Florida State while he was in high school, so Garrett got to watch some pretty damn good linebackers up close.
