Akeem Hunt Named To Paul Hornung Award Watch List

New, comments

The senior running back is expected to be one of the most versatile players in college football.

For three years Akeem Hunt has been a ridiculously dynamic player for Purdue, and that has paid off as he was named as one of 47 players to the Paul Hornung Award watch list. The Hornung is awarded to the Nation's "most versatile player", and Hunt definitely qualifies.

In 2013 Purdue did not score a lot, but when it did, Hunt often had a hand. He was Purdue's leading rusher with 464 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He also caught 38 passes for 340 more yards and two touchdowns. That made him second on the team in receptions. For good measure he was a solid kick returner at 626 yards and a score. He may not even be the best kick returner on the team with Raheem Mostert back there.

The list is loaded with Big Ten players too:

Ameer Abdullah, Nebraska

Kenny Bell, Nebraska

V’Angelo Bentley, Illinois

Shilique Calhoun, Michigan State

Stefon Diggs, Maryland

Akeem Hunt, Purdue

Venric Mark, Northwestern

Kevonte Martin-Manley, Iowa

Dontre Wilson, Ohio State

Shane Wynn, Indiana
