As you know, we need solid contributors at linebacker. We also need a bunch of freshmen and redshirt freshmen to be good, solid players over the next few seasons. Along both of those lines, we have today's player.
Danny Ezechukwu - Fr. (RS)
Lithonia, GA (Arabia Mountain HS)
6'2", 246 pounds
Linebacker
2014 Projection: Contributor at linebacker
At least Ezechukwu comes into 2014 with the size to be a solid Big Ten linebacker. For far too long we have had good, but undersized players at the position getting flattened in the run game. Ezechukwu is the biggest linebacker on the roster by weight and exited spring football slowly climbing up the depth chart.
Ezechukwu has also contributed in other ways. The former 3-star recruit undoubtedly helped bring in incoming freshman, Gregory Phillips, who was his high school teammate at Arabia Mountain HS in Georgia.
