Today is going to be a learning experience, as I know absolutely nothing about today's featured player since he is a new walk-on.
Jacob Anderson - Fr. (RS)
Greenwood, IN (Whiteland HS)
6'5", 235 pounds
Tight End
2014 Projection: reserve at tight end
Mr. Anderson here certainly has the size needed for a tight end in the Big Ten. He was technically on the roster last season, but redshirted and did not play. That's probably a good thing, as he is a mechanical engineering major and that is not exactly a major conducive to football.
Suring his senior season in 2012 he was primarily a blocking TE but still was a part of the offense. Whiteland went 6-4 with a first round sectional loss but had 13 catches for 367 yards and five touchdowns. Catchesof 84 and 87 yards for scores in his last two games greatly helped his yardage too. You can see his highlights here.
Purdue has recently had some good history with walk-on tight ends making a contribution, as Crosby Wright recently graduated after a successful career as a walk-on, so keep your eyes peeled for him, especially after Purdue loses a bunch of scholarship TEs.
