Although the commitment was reported by the Indy Star and The Lafayette Journal and Courier, it appears to be premature. The coaching staff is waiting for Thomas to clear some hurdles before the verbal commitment is recognized. As of right now, an offer is still on the table, pending certain circumstances. More information will be available soon. I'll leave up the remainder of the article for you to poke fun at my lack of journalistic integrity.
Purdue landed their 6th commitment for the 2015 class (and 2nd offensive lineman) today when 6'4", 328-pound Reche Thomas announced his plans to join the Boilermakers. Reche is a 3-star athlete from Vero Beach, FL, with offers coming from Illinois, UAB, Temple, and Florida A&M, among others.

This was a much needed win, especially in the wake of the news that Purdue target Brandon Knight chose one of the worst programs in FBS history over Purdue. The Boilers are getting a strong, powerful, tough-minded kid in Thomas. Check out his highlight videos below and you'll see what I mean. The kid has enthusiasm and a great punch. He will definitely be a valuable asset down the road for the offensive line.
If I had to pick on a weakness, I would say he needs to work on his quickness and footwork over the next year if he's going to be effective against the defensive linemen in the B1G. He won't be able to physically dominate like he did in high school, so it's important that he is able to find other ways to bring the protection. This is a very solid pickup for Purdue and I'm excited that Hazell has made a priority out of improving our offensive line.
