The East Regional was definitely a success for Purdue Track & Field. Now that everything is complete the Boilers will be well represented next week in Eugene, Oregon and even a few guys and gals will be competitors for a national title.
Raheem Mostert - Mostert already qualified on Friday in the 100 meters, but he also qualified today by finishing third in his heat in the 200. He will race in three events in Eugene, as Purdue 4x100 meter relay team with him will also make the trip.
Chukwuebuka Enewechi - While he did not make it in the shot put, Chuck made it in the hammer throw by finishing fifth. The top 12 individuals all advanced.
BreAnna Smith - As mentioned yesterday, she won her heat in the 800 meters to become the third athlete to reach the NCAA Championships.
Jake Waterman - Waterman had a personal record by over 6 seconds in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to advance by finishing in the top three. He is off to Eugene and the championships for the first time.
Caleb Fricke - By finishing in the top 12 in the men's discus Fricke earned a spot on the plane to Eugene.
Dani Bunch - Bunche will go to Oregon a one of the favorites in the women's shot put after winning the East region with a throw of 17.39 meters.
Brandon Winters - Winters just barely made it to Eugene by two ten-thousandths of a second in the 110 meter hurdles.
Women's 4x400 meters - The final spot on the plane goes to the 4x400 meter relay team, which ran a 3:34.61 to finish third in their heat and grab the last automatic qualifying spot.
