Purdue Excelling At NCAA Track Regionals

Yesterday was a big day for four athletes from Purdue in the NCAA East Preliminaries as they try to reach the NCAA Championships next weekend at the University of Oregon. All four athletes reached their respective finals this weekend with strong efforts.

Raheem Mostert - The "Fastest man in the Big Ten" continued to show his blazing speed by winning his heat in the 100 meters in a time of 10.47 seconds. His preliminary time was 12th best overall and he will run in the finals tonight. He also has the 200 meters to go as well, and those prelims are also tonight.

Andrew Kendrick - Kendrick ran a personal best and earned an at large berth in the finals of the 400 meters later tonight. His time was 46.75 seconds.

Andre Peart - Peart also won his heat in the 400 meter hurdles to reach the finals. His time was 14th best overall and he has a shot of reaching next week's NCAA meet.

BreAnna Smith - Smith was third in her heat of the 800 meters with a personal record time of 2:05.11. It is the ninth fastest time overall for women in the 800.

In other events Chukwuebuka Enekwechi just missed the finals of the shot put and Eric Harris II missed the finals of the 100 meters. Here is Friday's full schedule of Purdue competitiors:

5 p.m.Brandon Winters - men's 110m hurdles trials
5:30 p.m.Ciana Tabb - women's 100m hurdles trials
6 p.m.: Andrew Kendrick - men's 400m dash finals
6:30 p.m.: Raheem Mostert - men's 100m dash finals
7:15 p.m.: BreAnna Smith - women's 800m run finals
7:30 p.m.: Andre Peart - men's 400m hurdles finals
8 p.m.Raheem Mostert - men's 200m dash trials
8:50 p.m.Jake Waterman - men's 3,000m steeplechase finals
9:30 p.m.Blair Doney and Hope Schmelzle - women's 3,000m steeplechase finals
