Two days ago we featured a walk-on player in Will Schott. Today is another walk-on defensive lineman that would really have to surprise if he saw the field:
Ryan DeBusk - Fr. (RS)
Hometown: Atascadero, CA (Atascadero)
Defensive End
6'1", 235 pounds
2014 Projection: Deep reserve at defensive end.
Ryan DeBusk has yet to see the field during his time at Purdue. Last season he was a redshirt freshman walk-on and this year he has a long way to go to get playing time. Scholarship players that returned at DE are Antoine Miles, Evan Panfil, Ryan Russell, Jake Replogle, and John Strauser. Purdue also is getting Langston Newton as an immediately eligible transfer, so I have a very hard time seeing DeBusk playing unless there is an unmerciful blowout of some team.
DeBusk does have a recruiting video, however, and it looks like he has some promise. He also has dedication as he is a walk-on paying out of state tuition.
