Purdue Men’s Golf Reaches NCAA Championships

The men's golf team carries the banner into the postseason for Purdue.

After entering the day just out of qualification for the NCAA Championships at the Sugar Grove regional that men's golf team had a solid day and advanced to the final weekend for the first time since 2005. For the weekend Purdue was 30 over as a team, but their 297 on Saturday was good enough to move them into third place as the top five teams advanced. Illinois and UAB finished ahead of Purdue, while Southern Cal and California took the last two spots.

Individually Purdue was led by Adam Schenk and Austin Eoff. Schenk was 10th overall with a +5 for the weekend while Eoff had a +6. Brian Campbell of Illinois walked away with the top individual honors with a -5.

The Championships will be held at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas next weekend. Purdue will be joined by Alabama, Kennesaw State, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Texas, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Washington, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Florida State, Illinois, UAB, USC, California, Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma, Houston, South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia State, Vanderbilt, SMU, and UCLA.

At the NCAA Championships the top 8 teams with the lowest scores after three rounds will enter a match play tournament to determine the winner. Alabama is the defending champion.
