Citing a desire to follow his long passion for interpretive dance in Las Vegas, Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke announced this morning that he was going to step down as athletic director.
"It was just the right time," said Burke. "After such a successful year for Purdue athletics where we continued to be under budget across the board I felt like my work was done. I honestly couldn't be leaving the entire program in better shape. That is why I am proud to announce that I am joining Cirque de Soleil's new show: Rotél!"
Rotél! is the spicy new show playing at Mandalay Bay about the rise of a college sports network, with Burke as the new lead performer.
Purdue President Mitch Daniels has not named a replacement yet.
"We're going to do a nationwide search for a candidate that will keep our programs at the top of their class."
Already rumors are swirling that Kelvin Sampson, Bob Knight, and Lou Holtz are the leading candidate to replace Burke. Isiah Thomas is also in consideration, while Todd Leary could be brought in to handle finances.
The debut of Rotél! will be carried live on Big Ten Network 2 on Thursday night following an all new "Luchadores!"
