Indiana HS Basketball Class 3A State Final: Greensburg 89, Bowman Academy 76

Greensburg goes back-to-back in Class 3A, winning it second straight state championship.

Greensburg may be playing in Class 3A, but after winning a second straight state championship, they may be the best team in Indiana. The Pirates went 54-2 total over the past two seasons and won their second straight class 3A state championship 89-76 over defending Class 2A champion Boman Academy.

Sean Sellers, a 2014 Ball State commit, had 27 points and 16 rebounds, but it was senior guard Collin Rigney that was the surprise for Greenburg. Rigney averaged only 8.9 point per game, but was 7 of 10 from three-point range and finished with 23 points for Greensburg. 2015 prospect Ryan Welage had 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Northwestern commit Bryant McIntosh had 8 points and 11 assists.

Bowman struggled defensively all night, but 2015 Purdue target Devon Dillard finished with 21 points on 10 of 20 shooting. I will have more on him in a separate report later on, but this game was won on Greensburg patiently getting the ball to Welage and Sellers behind the defense with Rigney opening things up by hitting from long range. As a team Greenburg had 12 three-pointers to four for Bowman. Greensburg was also 57% from the floor for the night, with Sellers and Welage a combined 17 of 26.

Macy Holdsworth won the Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award for Greensburg as well.
