2014 Purdue Football Recruiting: Poona Ford Commits To Texas

Purdue lost its top recruit right on signing day.

Purdue got some bad news via ESPNU today at 12:30 as defensive tackle Poona Ford chose Texas over Purdue and Missouri:


Ford would have been the highest rated commit in Purdue's 2014 class and a huge defensive pickup along the defensive line to go with Gelen Robinson.

Ford is listed as a three-star commit according to Rivals, but a four-star ESPN top 300 player according to ESPN and a four-star according to Scout. ESPN has him as the No. 266 player overall in the nation. Here is some video:


Purdue is still waiting on Miguel Machado, who is deciding between Purdue and Michigan State. We weren't expecting Ford, but this still stings.
