2014 Purdue Football Recruiting: David Hedelin Commits

Purdue grabs a 4-star junior college offensive tackle as a very late addition to the 2014 class.

It looks like Darrell Hazell was not done with the 2014 recruiting class. On Signing Day a few weeks ago Purdue lost offensive tackle Miguel Machado to Michigan State. In return, Purdue may have gotten a better player.

David Hedelin, who had committed to Michigan State but did not sign, switched today to Purdue. This is a big get as the 6'5" 285 pound offensive tackle is expected to be an immediate starter. He is a JuCo transfer from City College of San Francisco and was a 3-star by Rivals, 3-star by Scout, and a 4-star by ESPN. The Only Colors had this to say when he was a Spartan:

When Skyler Burkland retired from football over the summer due to injuries, many figured MSU would go the JUCO route to find another offensive linemen who could play right away, with Fou Fonoti set to graduate. MSU has done that by securing the commitment of David Hedelin, who is actually from Sweden. Hondo Carpenter first reported it.

There link also has some video to Swedish High School football, which I did not know even existed.

As I said, Hedelin will probably start immediately at a position of huge need and Purdue will have him for two years. This is a major development to be sure.
