Purdue Football Recruiting: Evyn Cooper

Purdue landed a 17th verbal commitment on Tuesday evening when Georgia athlete Evyn Cooper announced his intentions to play for the Boilermakers in 2015.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Purdue landed a 17th verbal commit tonight in Evyn Cooper, a 6' 2" athlete out of Buford, GA.  Cooper projects to play at either safety or running back and was highly recruited by both the running backs coach (Jafar Williams) and the secondary coach (Taver Johnson).  He is a 3 star athlete according to rivals and unranked on 247.  Cooper has a long impressive list of offers and schools showing interest, including Louisville, Arkansas, and Georgia.

According to GBI, Cooper mentioned that the coaching staff at Purdue was the reason he committed and that he already felt an immediate connection.  He still plans to take more official visits in January just to be sure.

If confirmed, this will be Purdue's 17th known commitment for the 2015 class with several spots still open.  Stay tuned later this week for a massive recruiting article that I've been working on as I attempt to tear you away from your basketball euphoria and hammer you back down into football purgatory.

Meanwhile, enjoy these hudl clips of Cooper doing work.
