Purdue Football: Boilers Sign Four

Purdue added the first four players of the 2015 class on Wednesday, the first day for early enrollment.

USA TODAY Sports

The Boilermakers officially announced the first four members of the 2015 class on Wednesday with signatures from Markell Jones, Anthony Mahoungou, Ben Makowski, and Elijah Sindelar.  Each of them had different motivations for their early enrollment, but one thing they all have in common is their commitment to improve.  The earlier they get to work, the more prepared they will be to succeed in 2015.

Markell Jones comes to Purdue as Indiana's Mr. Football after one of the greatest seasons as a running back that the state has ever seen.  Jones rushed for a state-record 3,536 yards and 60 touchdowns for Columbus East High School in 2014.

Anthony Mahoungou is a tall and speedy receiver from France with one season under his belt at West Hills Community College in California where he was first team All-Conference in 2014.  After just one season playing football on American soil, Mahoungou has improved significantly and will be a welcomed addition as a playmaker in the offense next season.

Ben Makowski is a very talented long snapper from Penn High School in Mishawaka.  After the departure of four-year snapper Jesse Schmitt, Makowski should be starting right away for the Boilers in 2015.

Elijah Sindelar from Caldwell County High School is Kentucky's all-time leader in touchdown passes and second all-time in yards passing.  As a senior, he threw 49 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions.  He tore his ACL last month and his early enrollment will definitely help in the rehabilitation process.  He also could end up being named Kentucky's Mr. Football later this month.

Wednesday was the first day that schools could sign early-enrollment high school graduates and JUCO transfers.  So far, Purdue has only announced four of an anticipated six signings.  There is no word yet if anything has happened with recent verbal commits Cole Hikutini or Shayne Henley.  Both are still expected to join as mid-year transfers.
