12 Days To Purdue Basketball: Vince Edwards

Purdue freshman Vince Edwards looks to be an instant impact player for the Boilers.

Perhaps the freshman expected to make the largest impact this season is today's player. He was coach Painter's top target as he looked to lock up the 2014 recruiting class, and now he is here.

Vince Edwards - Fr.

Middletown, OH (Middletown HS)

6'7", 220 pounds

Forward

2014-15 Projection: possible starter at power forward

Vince Edwards was a top 100 prospect and a long-time target of coach Painter. He has the size and scoring ability to be a very special player at Purdue. Since Robbie Hummel graduated we have not had a four that can stretch the floor, pass, rebound, and score from almost anywhere. Edwards can probably play the three or the four, and if he can lock down the floor and have Rapheal Davis play at the three Purdue's offense suddenly has some interesting options.

Last season he was the Ohio Division I Player of the Year and he finished second in his school's history in scoring behind NBA legend Jerry Lucas. He was a human double-double that also averaged close to five assists per contest. He can play on the perimeter and knock down the three as well as bang inside with his size.

I am extremely excited to see what Vince can do. He brings versatility to the team that has been missing from both the small and power forward spots. He has the potential to be an all-Freshman Big Ten player and an instant impact guy.
