2015 Purdue Basketball recruiting: Early Signing Period

Purdue is adding at least two new Boilers today, maybe more.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It is the first day of the week long National early signing period and so far it looks like Purdue will be adding two new Boilermakers to the basketball program today. Ryan Cline and Grant Weatherford, both from Hamilton County, are expected to sign their national letters of intent to play basketball at Purdue starting next season. Let's see how that affects the recruiting chart.

Beshears is very likely on scholarship since Purdue had an extra one and he is a senior walk-on. Toyra is confirmed on scholarship for 2014-15, but may not be in 2015-16.

So as it stands now, Coach Painter has one scholarship to work with for next season. There is a chance that is taken later today by 7-foot center from Michigan Seth Dugan, who visited this past weekend and was offered. It also could be held in reserve for Caleb Swanigan, who is likely waiting until the spring regular signing period to sign wherever he is going to end up. Swanigan was originally a 2016 prospect, but he completed coursework early and re-classified to 2015, which is a rarity.

Also, keep in mind the situation with A.J. Hammons. There is a strong chance Hammons could go pro and not return for his senior season, thus giving coach Painter another scholarship. That may also come in to play with Swanigan, as we will likely know if Hammons is gone before the spring period.

I will update the stream as the day goes on and the letters come in.
