Sawyer Dawson is one of the more intriguing prospects in Purdue’s 2015 recruiting class. Purdue coaches went on the road to secure the verbal commitment of the Tampa area (Plant City) native. One knock on the athletic linebacker is how his size, or lack there of, (listed as 6’1, 190 on Rivals) will translate to the Big 10. I have it on good authority that Sawyer is taking care of that question both in the weight room and at the dinner table. Dawson is currently just a shade under 6’2 and is up to 205 pounds and growing. It’s not hard to imagine him coming into Purdue at 6’2 215-220 and that would certainly put him into the linebacker conversation sooner rather than later. He has a reputation as an explosive pass rusher off the edge and that is always in demand. Sawyer and his family are currently planning to make the trek to West Lafayette for the Northwestern game on November 22nd. Hope they are stocking up on winter gear.
