Last season we had one new walk-on that joined the bench mob of Stephen Toyra, Neal Beshears, and John McKeeman. He was the lone freshman walk-on, but in limited action he at least looked like he could be a contributor at some time.
Anfernee Brown - So.
East Chicago, IN (East Chicago Central HS)
6'1", 190 pounds
Guard
2014-15 Projection: Deep reserve
Brown played less than 10 total minutes last season, getting in to only five games, but had his only basket in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge game against Boston College. He finished the season 1 of 4 from the field (0 for 2 from three) with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Not great numbers, but he was a very productive high school player.
He comes from E`Twaun Moore's old high school where he was a three-year letter winner and played with 2015 target Hyron Edwards. Edwards may have cooled on Purdue after the recruitment of Grant Weatherford and P.J. Thompson, but he is still a possibility. As a senior he averaged 18 points per game and as a junior he put up a 15-6-6 line, which is pretty damn good for a high school guard. He was an honorable mention all-state player in 2013 and team MVP despite playing with a top 100 player in the class of 2015.
Here is what the Indiana Recruiting Guide had to say about him:
Anfernee is a heady guard that plays with a high basketball IQ. He is a good 3-point shooter and is very quick on the court. Also, he rebounds very well for a guard, grabbing nearly 6 rebounds per game last season. Look for him to keep improving and have a big year this season. His release on his shot is a little different, but it still goes in quite a bit. Solid small school prospect.
