High school football around the area was slightly delayed due to lightning in some areas Friday night, but Purdue's commitments were in action. Here is what happened:
Gelen Robinson - Lake Central HS, IN - beat Wast Chicago Central 24-0 - Robinson was big on defense as the Indians rebounded with a shutout victory of E'Twaun Moore's old high school. Gelen caught a 2-point conversion pass on offense and had three sacks on defense.
Denzel Ward - As mentioned last week, ward himself said he was no longer going to school at IMG academy in Florida, so I have no idea where he is at now. He is still planning on visiting UCLA and Florida as wlel.
Drue Tranquill - Carroll HS, Ft. Wayne, IN - beat Huntington North 41-6 - The Carool defense has now only given up six points while the offense has 101 through two games. The Chargers are ranked No. 8 in class 6A as well. There are some highlights here:
David Blough - Creekview HS, Carrollton, TX - beat Chilsholm Trail 38-7 - I could only find a box score on this one, but Blough did well. He was 7 of 10 for 115 yards and a score in the win and also rushed for a TD on six carries.
Austin McGehee - Pine Bluff, AR HS - Season Starts September 6 vs. Northside (Ft. Smith)
Gregory Phillips - Arabia Mountain HS, Lithonia, GA - BYE WEEK
Kirk Barron - Marian HS, Mishawaka, IN - lost to New Prairie 28-21 - A two hour lightning delay kept this game going until late, but a late touchdown sent Kirk Barron's team to its first loss.
Trae Hart - First Baptist Academy, Dallas, TX - lost to Colleyville Covenant 68-14 - Could only get a score on this one. Sorry.
