The Purdue injury news for senior tight end Gabe holmes is not good. After he was Purdue's top receiver through two games the Mackey Award candidate injured his wrist last week in preparation for the Notre Dame game. Today coach Darrell Hazell announced that he was out for the rest of the season after surgery to repair a dislocated wrist:
Tight end Gabe Holmes is officially out for the season according to Darrell Hazell.

Holmes has only nine catches for 69 yards in the first two games, but led Purdue in receptions. He had a career high six catches for 39 yards against Indiana State. Justin Sinz replaced him against Notre Dame and played very well, catching six passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.
I think it is possible Holmes could return in 2014. He never used his redshirt year and since the injury occurred after just two games there is a very strong chance he can use it this year and return as a fifth-year senior in 2014.
