2014 Purdue Football Recruiting: Week 3 Round-up

Drue Tranquill went crazy in a big win for Carroll of Fort Wayne.

Gelen Robinson - Lake Central HS, IN - beat Portage 12-8 - This, as you can see, was a defense-first game in which Lake Central came out on top. Portage only managed a safety and two field goals. As expected, Robinson was in the middle of everything defensively as Portage only had 64 yards on the ground and 128 through the air.

Denzel Ward - Simeon HS, Chicago, IL - lost to Novi Catholic Central 35-13 - I finally discovered that Ward is back in Chicago playing football for Simeon high school. While there he needs to get in Jabari Parker's ear to get him to West Lafayette. Simeon is now 0-2 on the season after dropping this game in Detroit.

Drue Tranquill - Carroll HS, Ft. Wayne, IN - beat Norwell 70-15 - Tranquill went off. His team won easily, but Tranquill scored five touchdowns with over 200 yards of total offense in the game. Yes, we're recruiting him as a defensive player. He also had something to say about this weekend's Purdue visit:

"There's no timetable," Tranquill said. "I've got to have a feeling and feel secure in my decision. If the Notre Dame offer closes and another guy commits, that's God's way of saying, 'Go to Purdue.' I have to feel secure in my decision. Right now, my high school team comes first. They deserve the leadership and effort out of me."

David Blough - Creekview HS, Carrollton, TX - beat Saginaw 50-19 - Blough was 9 of 14 in this game for only 97 yards and a touchdown and an interception as his team cruised. His running back ran for 126 yards and four scores.

Austin McGehee - Pine Bluff, AR HS - Tied Northside 31-31 - Apparently in Arkansas high school football you can have ties. Who knew? McGehee, an all-state kicker in addition to punting, tied the game with a 37-yard field goal with 2.3 seconds left.

Gregory Phillips - Arabia Mountain HS, Lithonia, GA - lost to Stephenson 46-7 - Seems like Phillips' team ran into a No. 3 ranked Stephenson team that blasted them.

Kirk Barron - Marian HS, Mishawaka, IN - beat South Bend Adams 20-14 OT - I could only find a score on this one.

Trae Hart - First Baptist Academy, Dallas, TX - BYE WEEK
