Hunte comes to West Lafayette from a recently familiar territory, Miami. Hunte played at Miami Central, the same high school that former Hurricane Willis McGahee starred at, and also a national powerhouse. In addition to an offer from Purdue, Hunte also held offers from Marshall, NC State, and Syracuse, securing a 3-star rating from Rivals and 2-stars from Scout.
Hunte was initially a member of the NC State Wolfpack after committing on May 10, but he later decommitted in December after Tom O'Brien was let go. Hunte figures to be a likely redshirt candidate with the Boilers current depth at corner, but hopes are high he can continue Purdue's recent streak of successful Florida defensive backs.
