27 Days To Purdue Football: Evan Feichter

The younger brother of Purdue's starting safety looks to have a similar impact.

Today's featured player has a good family track record for becoming a surprise contributor.

Evan Feichter - Fr. (RS)

Fort Wayne, Indiana (Bishop Dwenger HS)

6', 187 pounds

Safety

2013 Projection: Reserve at safety

The last name should be familiar, as Evan is the younger brother of starting safety Landon Feichter. The elder Feichter brother emerged as a walk-on two seasons ago before leading the Big Ten in interceptions and earning himself a scholarship last year.

Like his brother, Evan has a nose for the football. He had 10 interceptions in his last three years at Dwenger and has now moved to safety from linebacker after redshirting last season. His team was undefeated when he was a sophomore before losing in the semi-state. As a junior Dwenger was state runner-up to Cathedral.

Obviously, we cannot count out Evan after his brother has already made some big contributions. He could be a Jake Standeford-like player who stepped out of his brother's shadow to make his own name.
