13 Days to Purdue Football: Erich Berzinskas

With 13 days until kickoff, today we feature part of the very deep Purdue stable of quarterbacks.

Erich Berzinskas - Fr. (RS)

Clinton, CT (Milford Academy)

6'5", 207 pounds

Quarterback

2013 Projection: Reserve at Quarterback

Berzinskas was a member of the 2012 class that also saw the arrival of quarterbacks Austin Appleby, Bilal Marshall, Robert Gregory, and Aloyis Gray. Of those four, two are now wide receivers (Gray and Marshall), one is a running back (Gregory), while the fourth (Appleby) found himself entering spring battling Rob Henry and Danny Etling for the starting spot. Berzinskas also found himself in some positional disarray of his own after being kicked off the team in early September before earning his way back onto the team where he finds himself, along with Appleby, as the only two remaining at quarterback from his class.

Berzinskas came to Purdue after a year at Milford Academy prep school where he played with current Purdue teammate Carlos Carvajal. The Connecticut native passed for 633 yards, completing 40 of 82 attempts, throwing for six touchdowns and two interceptions. At the time, Milford Academy was ranked as the No. 1 prep-school in the nation.

In high school, Berzinskas threw for over 2,800 yards, a conference leader. Berzinskas was a 2-star prospect with interest from Iowa, UCONN, and Temple, with none of those schools offering a scholarship. Berzinskas came to Purdue as a preferred walk-on where he continues to battle for position in a crowded Purdue backfield.

Berzinskas is focused on a future in business and also enjoys using great songs in his recruiting video. Check his tape out above.
