It is the birthday of America, but it is also another day on the countdown to Purdue football. The No. 58 is often an unsung number when it comes to the football team, so it is appropriate it belongs to a relative townie.
Justin Hunt - So.
Bunker Hill, Indiana (Maconaquah HS)
5'11", 207 pounds
Linebacker
2013 Projection: Deep Reserve at linebacker
Justin Hunt has to be built, mostly because he has about 25 pounds on me while being the same height. That said, he is awfully undersized for being a Big Ten linebacker. He does come from my neck of the woods in Maconaquah High school, which is just north of my home town of Kokomo. Maconaquah has produced some decent Purdue talent in the past with 4-year offensive lineman Mike Otto, who is now with the Tennessee Titans.
As for Justin, he was a letter winner in football, track, and wrestling that is giving it a shot as a first year walk-on even though he is a sophomore. Honestly, it is probably a testament to his character that he has even made it to the point he has been assigned a number.
Of note is that he received a Pat Keady Memorial Scholarship in 2011, so if he is good enough for coach Keady he is good enough for me.
