The extremely early preseason all-Big Ten teams are out from Phil Steele and Purdue has not been given a ton of respect from the magazine. Despite naming four all-Big Ten teams on offense, defense, and special teams Purdue only had four players named, two of them on fourth team special teams:
Bruce Gaston - Big Bruce is the lone first-team selection, as he was named First Team defense at defensive tackle along with Minnesota's Ra'Shede Hageman.
Ricardo Allen - Rico Island is on the Big Ten Second Team at cornerback along with Ciante Evans of Nebraska.
Cody Webster - Cody is your Fourth Team punter behind Mike Sadler, Justin DuVernois, and Drew Meyer. To be fair on DuVernois, when you're the punter for Illinois you get a lot of exposure.
Akeem Hunt - In the most misplaced spot of all you have Hunt at kick returner. yes, he returned a kickoff for a score last season, but when healthy Raheem Mostert will handle these duties and he was the best returner in the nation in 2011. As the likely No. 1 running back it is doubtful Hunt will return many kicks.
