64 Days to Purdue Football: Kevin Pamphile

We are now 64 days away from kickoff, or if you're this sleeping beauty, just one sleep session away from taking on the Bearcats.

Kevin Pamphile - Sr. (RS)

Hometown: Miami, FL (Miami Central)

Offensive Tackle

6'5", 300 pounds

2013 Projection: Starter at Left Tackle

Day 64 brings us to another one of Danny Hope's first Florida products, Kevin Pamphile. Pamphile came to Purdue expecting to contribute on the defensive side of the ball after posting 12 sacks in his only year of high school football. But after a 2010 season which saw him play limited time on the defensive line, plus a lack of depth on the offensive side of the ball, Pamphile made the switch to offensive lineman.

Pamphile started the 2012 season as the #1 at left tackle for the Boilers last season, but never maintained a firm hold on the position, facing consistency issues and even losing some time to Justin Kitchens at left tackle.

Pamphile is expected to start at the left tackle position this year again, but will need to maintain a consistent level of pass blocking to make that jump to the next level of production. It's a testament to Pamphile's work ethic that after only 2 seasons of offensive line work and 5 years of football experience he has worked his way to starting at left tackle in the Big Ten. While his work ethic has got him to where he is now so quickly, his inexperience still hinders his game. He has the frame to be a dominant left tackle, but he'll have to put it all together to make him the consistent presence that this young team will need.

Pamphile has stepped up and become an outspoken leader for this team, another reason I believe Pamphile will be given all the opportunities he needs to succeed and take his performance to the next level. The Boilers will need a strong season from Pamphile and the other seniors on the line to find offensive success in the coming season.
