With 80 days left until the kickoff of the 2013 Football season we meet a player that has gone through multiple roles at Purdue.
Patrick Bade - Sr.
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana (Franklin Central HS)
Tight End
6'6", 277 pounds
2013 Projection: possible contributor at Tight End
He started as a member of the 2009 basketball recruiting class that was supposed to support the Baby Boilers. he was pressed into a backup forward role to JaJuan Johnson and Robbie Hummel when Sandi Marcius wasn't ready. The next year he was supposed to be Purdue's most improved player, but slowly moved out of the rotation. He switched sport to football, where he was first a tight end, then got arrested at Harry's. He moved to offensive tackle, and he is now back at tight end for his fifth and final season.
Will he contribute this year? You have Carlos Carvajal, Gabe Holmes, Sterling Carter, and Justin Sinz ahead of him on the depth chart. He did appear in two games as a reserve two seasons ago, so I suppose we could see him in a blowout at home. I think the dream scenario is Austin Appleby throwing a late TD pass to him in a blowout of Indiana State.
