2013 CBI Tournament Bracket: Purdue Opens At Home

Both Dru Anthrop and D.J. Byrd will get to play at home at least one more time.

Jonathan Daniel

The 2013 CBI bracket is out and, at the cost of $30,000 the Boilers will allow Dru Anthrop and D.J. Byrd to play at least one more home game at Mackey Arena. Purdue will play the Western Illinois Leathernecks at home Wednesday night:

Western Illinois was in the running for the Summit League auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament for a good portion of the season. They finished 22-8 and 13-3, tied for the regular season title with NCAA-entraint (and Michigan foe) South Dakota State in the Summit League.

Purdue is by far their highest profile opponent as they opened the season with a win over Wabash College. Somehow, they made it through the season without playing a major conference opponent, resulting in a 127 RPI. They defeated former Boiler John hart and IUPUI 57-53 in overtime. hart had 14 points in what ended up being his final collegiate game, as he was lost to academics.

Western Illinois has never made the NCAA Tournament. The Boilers are 4-0 all-time against Western Illinois, last beating them 83-49 during the 1999-2000 season.

They are led by 6'8" forward Terell Parks who averages 12.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Ceola Clark III is a solid 6'3" guard that averages 12.5 points per game.
