As you'll notice, I took this year's seniors off. With only four games left they are all gone after this year whether they had a redshirt left to use or not. The exceptions are Rob Henry (has a small chance at getting a 6th year) and Gabe Holmes (could possibly use his available redshirt this year due to his early wrist injury after two games). I am guessing that Henry does not return and Holmes does, giving Purdue seven spots, barring any other departures.

CLASS RANK

71st Nationally, 11th in Big Ten

Not in top 40 Nationally

64th Nationally, 11th in Big Ten

Here is what the committed players did this week:

Will Colmery - Nazareth Academy, LaGrange, IL - DE - Beat Brooks College Prep 37-13 - Nazareth Academy plays in Class 5A in Illinois and easily won its opening round Class 5A playoff game against Brooks College Prep. I couldn't find a game wrap, but they are 7-3 and will play Sycamore (9-0) in round two of the playoffs.

Simmie Cobbs - Oak Park-River Forest HS, IL - WR - Beat Dundee-Crown 35-13 - Cobbs also gets to move on with a nice win in the first round of the Class 8A state tournament in Illinois. Here is some video from the game. OPRF will get Maine South in the second round. According to the preview for that game Cobbs had six catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns.

Tim Cason - Clarkston HS, MI - DB - Beat Southfield Beat Oxford 30-27 - Clarkston moves on to round 2 of the Michigan D1 playoffs and will play Romeo in the Quadrant 2 final. Here is a very brief recap of their opening playoff game.

Gelen Robinson - Lake Central HS, IN - DE/LB - Beat Merrillville 31-0 - Robinson had a huge game for Lake Central as they were crowned Sectional 1 champions in Class 6A by avenging one of their two regular season losses. It is the first sectional title since 1999 for Lake Central and Robinson had two sacks and recovered two fumbles in the stunning 31-0 win. Lake Central will host Penn, the No. 1 rated team in class 6A in the regional (essentially the state quarterfinal) this week.

Denzel Ward - Simeon HS, Chicago, IL - OT - NOT PLAYING - In an interesting twist Ward's HS career is done. After transferring between multiple schools he is actually not playing this season at Simeon HS in Chicago. He had started there and was at IMG Academy in Florida for a time.

Drue Tranquill - Carroll HS, Ft. Wayne, IN - DB/LB - Beat Warsaw 42-7 - Tranquill led Carroll to a second straight sectional title as they won class 6A Sectional 3. Tranquill had 218 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in the blowout. Carroll will host Carmel in the regional round this week. If both Carroll and Lake Central win they will face each other in the semi-state at Carroll.

David Blough - Creekview HS, Carrollton, TX - QB - Beat Terrell 47-7 - Blough finally had a big win, but he didn't do a lot. He was 8 of 16 for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Austin McGehee - Pine Bluff, AR HS - P - Beat Sheridan 49-0 - The story is stuck behind a very clever pay wall, so I don't know many details, but I doubt that McGeehee was punting much in this one. He was very likely 7-for-7 on extra points though.

Gregory Phillips - Arabia Mountain HS, Lithonia, GA - WR - Beat Dunwoody 48-0 - Arabia Mountain is not 6-3 heading into their final regular season game, which they must win in order to reach the Georgia state playoffs. The Arabia Mountain QB threw seven touchdown passes, so Phillips likely caught at least one.

Kirk Barron - Marian HS, Mishawaka, IN - OL - SEASON COMPLETE

Trae Hart - First Baptist Academy, Dallas, TX - WR - Beat McKinney Christian 42-0 - Hart rushed once for three yards and only had three catches for 43 yards as he let his teammates do most of the work this week. First Baptist is 9-0 and has given up only six points in its last four games. No, they are not playing Purdue.
