Purdue's own Cody Webster has advanced beyond the 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation's best punter. he is trying to join Travis Dorsch as Purdue punter that have won the award, and be it through pity on our plight or not, he has earned his way to the nomination with a great season. he has even managed to force three turnovers on punts where the returner fumbled or muffed his prodigious kicks.
He is one of three finalists for the award, along with Tom Hornsey of Memphis and Drew Kaser of Texas A&M. The award will be presented at the Home Depot Awards Show on December 12th:
Purdue's senior punter has posted a career high in yards per punt this season, with a 43.5 average. He has sent 15 of his 65 punts 50 yards or more and landed 22 of them inside the 20. He has handled the punting duties for Purdue since the second game of his freshman season.
At the link above you can vote for Cody, which I think plays part of the role in giving the award. So go, vote, and let's win SOMETHING this football season!
