There is so much at stake on Saturday in Ross-Ade Stadium. First you have the Purdue Cannon, currently in Purdue's possession, which is one of the closer rivalry trophies in the country. Next you have Purdue coming in at 1-9 and trying to avoid the label of Worst Big Ten team of All Time. The Boilers still need 33 points in the last two games to match the Big Ten scoring output of 1981 Northwestern. Of course, a win also gets them out of that dubious company. Finally, you have Illinois, losers of 20 straight Big Ten games. No one in the conference has done that since that infamous Northwestern team, which lost 38 Big Ten games in a row from 1978-82.
It's the Big Ten Game of the Year!
Okay, so it is not the most glamorous matchup. Still, we should be treated to an exciting, competitive game, mostly because each side views the other as a possible win after so many defeats. I'll have more in the preview tomorrow, but here are your Game Day Vitals:
