While we thought the early signing period was over on Wednesday when Jacquil Taylor, Dakota Mathias, and Vince Edwards officially signed with Purdue, it may not be quite done. Technically, the period goes through November 20th, so a player can sign an LOI at any time before then. One player that was expected to sign earlier did not, and now Purdue may be back in play for him.
Isaac Haas, the 7'2" center from Alabama and top 100 player, was expected to sign with Wake Forest, but as our friends over at Blogger So Dear have said, things changed:
On November 12th, the day before national signing day, the mother of Isaac Haas, who is/was our 7' 2" 4-star commit for the class of 2014, announced on her Facebook page that Isaac would be signing his letter of intent at 2 pm (central time) in his high school's gymnasium. She welcomed all family and friends to the event and asked people to support her son. Even around noon yesterday a friend asked her where her son was going and she replied, "He is going to Wake Forest!" 12 hours later, after a lot of 'likes' and comments from friends and family members, Mrs. Haas commented that the signing had been postponed and that more information would follow.
Rumors have swirled that Wake Forest, who only has one scholarship open, is holding out for Jaquan Lyle. Haas has also strongly considered hometown UAB as a choice, and they are probably the leader at this point. There are only two things we know for certain:
1. Haas is deciding tomorrow, per his Twitter:
Tomorrow morning I will release who I've chosen

2. Coach Painter did not give up, as he was in Birmingham Friday night to speak with Haas:
Matt Painter is in Alabama for four-star center Isaac Haas. The Wake Forest commit is open and #Purdue is making a push.

Perhaps we'll get some good news tomorrow. Perhaps he was going to UAB all along. What I do know is that Mr. Haas has decided and his decision can be sealed tomorrow with a simple fax to West Lafayette.
