2014 Purdue Football Recruiting: Week 12 HS Results

What did Purdue's 2014 football commits do this past week?

Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

Several Purdue commitments, most notably Drue Tranquill and Gelen Robinson, saw their high school careers come to an end this week in their respective state playoffs. That frees them up to fully concentrate on becoming Boilers. As a reminder, here are the current commitments and their rankings:

Here is what the committed players did this week:

Will Colmery - Nazareth Academy, LaGrange, IL - DE - Lost to Sycamore 33-28 in Class 5A State Playoffs round 2 - Purdue's newest commitment saw their season end with a second round playoff defeat. Sycamore scored the winning TD with just over four minutes left. No word on what Colmery did, but here is your game wrap.

Simmie Cobbs - Oak Park-River Forest HS, IL - WR - Lost to Park Ridge Maine South 34-21 in Class 8A State Playoffs Round 2 - Cobbs is the second Purdue commitment to end his season this week as Oak Park-River Forest trailed 27-7 at one point before making a comeback. Cobbs caught five passes for 102 yards and he also had an interception on defense.

Tim Cason - Clarkston HS, MI - DB - Beat Romeo 42-10 in D1-Quadrant 2 Semifinals - Clarkston stays alive to reach the quarterfinals of Michigan's D1 playoffs and the final of their quadrant of the draw. Cason caught a touchdown pass to help his team move to 10-1.

Gelen Robinson - Lake Central HS, IN - DE/LB - Lost to Penn 33-6 in Class 6A Regional - A week after Robinson went crazy in avenging a regular season loss to give Lake Central a sectional title his team ran into the state's No. 1 rated team. Penn was able to isolate Robinson and run for 232 yards while it also got a score from its defense.

Denzel Ward - Simeon HS, Chicago, IL - OT - SEASON COMPLETE

Drue Tranquill - Carroll HS, Ft. Wayne, IN - DB/LB - Lost to Carmel 38-7 in Class 6A Regional - There will be no Drue Tranquill vs. Gelen Robinson semi-state as Carroll ran into state power Carmel and got thumped in their regional, also at home. Tranquill was held to a season low 17 yards on 10 carries and his brother Justin had 41 yards on 13 carries. Drue caught five passes for 54 yards and a late touchdown.

David Blough - Creekview HS, Carrollton, TX - QB - Beat North Forney 33-29 - Blough was able to lead his team to the Class 4A-D1 playoffs with a 6-4 record. I couldn't find a story, but Blough has thrown for 1,488 yards on 111 of 204 passes for 13 scores and only two interceptions according to the Dallas Morning News.

Austin McGehee - Pine Bluff, AR HS - P - Beat Benton 59-42 - Pine Bluff was able to qualify for the Arkansas State playoffs after a win in their regular season finale. McGehee likely did not have to punt much with his team scoring 59 points, but he was pretty good on placekicks. He made a critical field goal to put his team up by two scores late.

Gregory Phillips - Arabia Mountain HS, Lithonia, GA - WR - Beat Lakeside 38-20 - Arabia Mountain finished the regular season at 7-3 after this weekend. I couldn't find any details on their game other than the final score. Apparently they did not qualify for their first playoff berth in school history, as they needed a loss elsewhere by ML King that did not come to pass.

Kirk Barron - Marian HS, Mishawaka, IN - OL - SEASON COMPLETE

Trae Hart - First Baptist Academy, Dallas, TX - WR - Beat Garland Christian 60-14 - Hart caught three passes for 84 yards as his team moves into the state playoffs with an undefeated record. They led 43-0 after one quarter before putting in the subs.
