2013 Purdue Football Recruiting: DeAngelo Yancey

Darrell Hazell deserves some coffee, because he is closing, baby!

Another commitment, another big receiver. Purdue has added 3-star receiver DeAngelo Yancey from this weekend's recruiting visits, giving our Boilers a 6'2", 200 pounds receiver from Mays High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Rivals rates him a 3-star prospect, as does ESPN. According to ESPN Purdue beat out some major schools for his services including Mississippi, Missouri, and Wake Forest.

Yancey has a pretty extensive list of highlights over at hudl.com. His team was 5-5 this season and his limited stats provided by MaxPreps only have one game listed. The site for his highlights has highlights from every game, however.

It is interesting to see that he was a very recent de-commit from Kentucky:

"Basically, I just felt like I wasn't wanted with the new coaching staff at Kentucky," Yancey told AJC. "My offer still stood, but I felt like I wasn't wanted. And I don't want to go where I'm not wanted and don't feel comfortable."

Oh well. There loss is our gain. He is yet another big receiver to go with Shane Mikesky, Dolapo Macarthy, and Charles Torwudzo. I like the bigger receivers because the small fast ones, while good, get pushed around too easily on the outside.

Welcome aboard, young man!
