Purdue Football Recruiting Update: Week 6 Of The 2012 Season

Friday marked week 6 of the nine week high school football season in Indiana. Since Indiana starts HS football earlier than almost every other state it is a good way to mark where teams are when it comes to our recruits. It has been awhile since I have talks about how well the current crop of commitments is doing during their senior seasons, so today is the perfect day for an update:

Danny Etling - QB - Terre Haute South, IN - Etling plays in the toughest conference in the state of Indiana. The MIC has teams rated No. 1, 2, 6, and 7 in the Class 5A poll, so the 2-4 overall record and 0-4 mark in league play is not s surprise when TH South is regularly a second tier team in this league. Here are some highlights:

Ben Davis vs TH South 09-21-2012

TH South lost to No. 2 Ben Davis 30-13 while Etling had two touchdown passes. His season numbers are represented here, but only five of six games are tracked.

Keyante Green - RB - Eagle's Landing Christian Academy, GA - ELCA is 3-1 on the season and did not play this week. Their last game was a 56-14 win over Hapeville Charter School in Atlanta. I cannot seem to find any stats, but his team is ranked No. 1 in its class in Georgia. I also found a local paper's site.

Randy Gregory -DE - Arizona Western C.C., AZ - Gregory is done for the season after breaking his leg. He is redshirting and is expected to enroll early and have three years of eligibility when he arrives.

Dwayne Johnson - OL - Houston Bellaire, TX - Johnson's team is 1-3 after losing 41-7 to Port Arthur Memorial. Johnson helped block for 141 yards rushing on 35 carries and his quarterbacks were 8 of 17 for 48 yards. Overall team stats can be found here.

Austin Logan - DB - Tallahassee, FL - Logan's Florida State University High team is 2-2 after a pair of losses to Lincoln and Rickards. I can't find any stats. Here is a game wrap.

Jake Replogle - DE - Centerville, OH - The Elks are now 3-2 having won three in a row after beating Greenville 64-7. Centerville has an excellent site with every statistic imaginable here. There is even a recent feature on Replogle:

He becomes the latest Centerville lineman to either commit or currently play at a Big Ten or BCS school. The list includes brothers Mike and Adam at Indiana, Evan Lisle (Ohio State), Brant Gressel (Iowa), Benny McGowan (Michigan State), Ifeadi Odenigbo (Northwestern), Michael Bennett (Ohio State) and Jake Feldmeyer (Illinois). Another former Centerville lineman, Kyle Rose, plays at West Virginia.

John Strauser - ATH - HS of St. Thomas More, IL - The sabers started 2-3 but are now 2-3 after a third straight loss. This one was a close 27-26 loss at the hands of Clifton Central. Again, no stats could be found. Thomas More lost on a blocked PAT attempt.

Johnny Thompson - LB - Apalachee, GA - Apalachee is 1-2 after losing to Gainesville 62-20 this week. They are yet another team that does not post stats, but I did find a game wrap from the loss.

David Yancey - ATH - Lake Central, IN - Lake Central was undefeated and ranked No. 10 in class 5A before losing 20-16 at Michigan City, giving current player Ryan Isaac bragging rights over Yancey. Yancey rushed for 45 yards on 21 carries in the loss. He also had 4 catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. Here are his full season stats.

Parker Cothren - DE - Hazel Green, AL - Hazell Green is 3-1 on the year after beating Bob Jones 42-14 on Friday. The victory broke a long streak of 26 straight region wins for Bob Jones.

Myles Norwood - WR - Grace Prep, TX - Grace Prep lost 35-12 to Liberty Chrisitan to fall to 1-3 on the season. Norwood had a busy night with four carries for 32 yards; caught two passes for 12 yards, including a score; made six tackles; and broke up a pass.
