The 2012-13 Purdue Men's Basketball schedule has been a more well-kept secret than the Manhattan Project. Usually we have had a full long before now. The Big Ten itself has the football schedules out through 2016 for crying out loud, but the basketball schedules have been a secret...
... UNTIL NOW!!!
Well, at least the non-conference schedule is no longer a secret. Here is your full (sort of) non-conference basketball schedule:
Oct 30: Montevallo (exhibition)
Nov. 3: Newberry (exhibition)
Nov. 9: TBA (2K Sports Classic)
Nov. 11: TBA (2K Sports Classic)
Nov. 15: Villanova - Madison Square Garden, New York City (2K Sports Classic)
Nov. 16: Alabama/Oregon State - Madison Square Garden, New York City (2K Sports Classic)
Nov. 21: North Carolina-Wilmington
Nov. 28: at Clemson
Dec. 1: Xavier
Dec. 4: Lamar
Dec. 8: at Eastern Michigan
Dec. 15: Notre Dame - Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis (Crossroads Classic)
Dec. 18: Ball State
Dec. 29: William & Mary
Jan. 19: West Virginia
The two TBA dates are still up in the air, but they are guaranteed home games in the 2KSports Classic. South Dakota State, a 2012 NCAA Tournament team, is a strong possibility as an opponent there.
As for the rest, only Lamar and Ball State are additions to my previous post. the Lamar game should be extremely interesting, as Pat Knight, the son of Bob Knight, will coach against Purdue. Anytime the Boilers face off against a member of the Knight family is interesting to me.
Other good points:
- Notre Dame, Lamar, Xavier, Alabama, and West Virginia were NCAA Tournament teams last season.
- Clemson beat Iowa in last year's ACC/Big Ten challenge.
- Purdue has won three straight ACC/Big Ten Challenge games in a row, but three of the last four games have been at home.
- The Notre Dame game is the first regular season game against the Fighting Irish since 1966, and just second overall in that time. Purdue played at Notre Dame in the 2004 NIT.
