Purdue Football Recruiting: Welcome Dwayne Johnson

He's not The Rock, but our latest football commitment shares the same given name as the famous WWE wrestler turned actor. So much f football is decided by the offensive lines, and today Purdue made it official that another solid offensive line recruit was coming on board.

Dwayne Johnson is a big boy. At 6'6" 275 pounds he is a three-star prospect from Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas is the largest physical commitment int he class of 2013 so far. He projects mostly as an offensive tackle. He chose Purdue over offers from Colorado, Kansas, SMU and Washington State.

His highlight tape shows him as a bulldozer of an offensive lineman. he's a little bit slow in his footwork, but his size and strength allow him to overpower almost everyone he faces. He's also not afraid to get down field and flatten guys for his ballcarriers.

If you're in to watching offensive line highlights there is a solid seven minute highlight tape found here. Last season his high school was 7-4 overall and qualified for the Class 5A Division I State playoffs where they lost in the first round to Cinco Ranch 59-28.

I think it is safe to say that Johnson will be a tackle at the next level. His frame can probably beef up over 300 pounds easily and he has the height and wingspan to play on the edge and frustrate rush ends. It is good to have him on board as this class finally has its first definite offensive line commit.
