14 Days To Purdue Football: Bilal Marshall

With only 14 more days left in the countdown, which is pretty wild to think about how quickly the season is approaching, we take a look at one of the new freshmen who comes from The Sunshine State. Marshall is a dual-threat quarterback with great size and athleticism. However, it looks like a red-shirt could be in his near future, seeing as we are pretty set in the QB position.

Bilal Marshall - Fr.

Hometown: Pembroke Pines, FL. (Dade Christian)

Quarterback

6'3" 170 pounds

2012 Projection: red-shirt

With the constant chatter of who is going to be the main quarterback to lead Purdue through this season, it looks like majority of the freshmen will be red-shirted. This move will be beneficial for Marshall, who could definitely put on a few pounds. Marshall was a three star recruit out of Dade Christian and ranked the 18th dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com.

During his senior season he threw for 17 touchdowns and 1,296 passing yards while also rushing for 675 yards and 8 touchdowns while averaging 8.5 yards a carry. Marshall was also a 4-year varsity letter-man in track. He holds the school record for the 400 meter dash and also ran a 22.1 in the 200 his junior year.

Needless to say, Marshall is a great athlete and is speedy as can be. He will definitely need to take a season to adjust to the college game and develop his body more for the intensity of Big Ten football. Look for Marshall's season to be spent putting on more weight and further polish off his game. Marshall seems dedicated and excited to play for Purdue, which he shows in this interview. Marshall is another solid recruit in this class and it will definitely be fun watching him grow as an athlete and Boilermaker.
