Purdue Football Coaching Search: Darrell Hazell Interview?

Is Purdue flying in Darrell Hazell today?

US PRESSWIRE

While Butch Jones enjoys a Rocky Mountain high today interviewing out in boulder it appears Purdue may not be content to sit back and wait for him to decide between the boilermakers and Buffaloes. The eyes in the skies have pointed out to me that good ol' PU400 is active again and it is headed east, this time to Akron-Canton Regional Airport.

Why is this important? Well, it is near Kent State University and Darrell Hazell. It looks as if the flight is scheduled for a for a 1:47 ET arrival. There is no word on if they are coming right back.

Hazell is an interesting candidate because he pulled off a near miracle this season. Kent State finished at No. 25 in the final BCS standings at 11-2 after a double overtime loss to Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. Otherwise, they would be preparing for the orange Bowl. Kent State is playing in the Godaddy.com Bowl against Arkansas State. It is their first bowl game in 40 years, so that is the near miracle part.

Hazell had a run-heavy offense behind Dri Archer and Traylon Durham both rushing for over 1,200 yards, so we may see a different style than we're accustomed to, but if he wins, who cares.
