Purdue Basketball Recruiting 2013: Basil Smotherman Jr. Signs

Basil Smotherman Jr. is officially a Boilermaker, according to his Twitter feed:

Smotherman is the second high school senior to officially sign his letter of intent. The 6'6" 190 pound swingman is a rising senior at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. He is a tenacious defender and is working on a nice inside-out game that will make him very useful once he arrives next fall. I describe him as Kelsey Barlow with his give-a-shit always turned on.

Here is what I wrote about basil in his recruiting profile:

Most everything I have read about Smotherman has him as a nice complimentary player. He's not an explosive scorer, but he can score from the perimeter and has a nice mid-range game. His size at 6'6" projects him as a likely three candidate, and he's also supposed to be a very capable defender. His high school teams have yet to set the world on fire. Heritage Christian was 11-12 when he was a freshman and 13-9 as a sophomore when his dad was coaching.

Smotherman is expected to rise as a senior leader for Lawrence North this season. I plan on seeing him at least once this season, but I already did see him play once as a freshman at Heritage Christian. Here is his full schedule for Lawrence North:
