Sorry I am getting to this late tonight, but it has naturally been a busy weekend. We have a very quick turnaround as our basketball Boilers will try to lock up win No. 1 on Sunday in front of mom and dad T-Mill for mom's birthday.

2011-12 record: 10-22, 3-15 CAA
2012 Postseason: None

Series With Purdue: First meeting
Time: 2pm
TV: Big Ten Digital Network
Hofstra opened the season Friday night with a 91-62 loss at Monmouth, so at least on paper this is a team we should have very little trouble against. Four players reached double figures, but Andrew Nicholas scored 28 points for Monmouth as the Hawks cruised to a relative easy win. Monmouth was up 50-31 at halftime.
Guards Stevie Mejia and Shaquille Stokes led Hofstra with 12 points apiece in their opener. Moussa Kone had 10 points and Jimmy Hall had 11. Even with four players in double figures the Pride had 23 turnovers and shot a dismal 29% from the field. Theya re better from long-range (4 of 19) and at the free throw line (20 of 30) than Purdue.
Honestly, anything less than a very easy win should have us concerned. This is a team that is still coming together based on the fact that they have four transfers on one roster. They got beat by nearly 30 against an NEC team and now they have to face a team loaded with Big Ten talent. We have a tremendous size advantage with their tallest player at 6'8"
Purdue keys:
- Jay Simpson, A.J. Hammons, and Jacob Lawson get more time in the post.
- Try to get Rapheal Davis on track scoring-wise.
- Let's see what Ronnie Johnson can do.
- Hit some damn free throws!
- Get a big enough lead that Stephen Toyra plays.
Purdue 95, Hofstra 60
