30 Days To Purdue Basketball: Neal Beshears

The countdown continues with another one of the many Boilermaker forwards.

After spending my fall break in Charlotte, North Carolina, it's time to get back into the normal swing of things as well as hope that Purdue doesn't have a game like they did against Michigan when we play Wisconsin this weekend. Today marks 30 days to Purdue basketball. If you are able to attend Mackey Madness this Friday I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed in watching the new guys show off. Anyway, let's continue with our countdown:

Neal Beshears - So.

Hometown: Winchester, IN (Winchester/Maine Central Institue)

Forward

6'6" 195 pounds

2012 projection: final reserve at forward

Beshears walked-on to Purdue's program last year after having a solid senior year where he averaged almost a double-double with 18.3 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 87.5 percent from the free throw line. Beshears completed his first season with Purdue as many freshman walk-ons do. He saw little playing time in the first few games when we went up by a lot, and then some time later in the season if we were up. His first two points came against the IPFW home game, and he finished the season averaging 0.6 points and 0.3 rebounds in 2.2 minutes. He played in ten games throughout the whole season.

Playing time doesn't look good for Neal as we are extremely set at all forward positions. It looks like he will see the court when we are ahead or down by a substantial amount. For now he will be used as an extra body in practices.
