Welcome to the Fold: Jordan Woods

The recruits keep rolling in.  Jordan Woods, a wide receiver from Michigan, is the latest member to join the Boilermaker class for 2012.  Woods only had a couple of offers, but Purdue has been on him since the beginning.

Woods plays at Ann Arbor Skyline, which just started a football team last season.  Although they went 0-9, Woods was impressive all year, leading the team in almost every receiving category.  At 6'2 and just 175 pounds, Woods has room to grow and put on weight.  Purdue always seems to lack big receivers so Woods could help fill that void.

In his highlight video, Woods showed exceptional hands.  He was not afraid to go across the middle and make a tough catch.  He showed decent speed, but he wasn't a burner by any means.  Instead, I was more impressed with how he didn't shy away from contact at all.  His route running looks to be solid and he shows a lot of room for growth and development.

At Purdue, it never hurts to have too many receivers.  Woods looks like he can be a great one with time.  He may be a red-shirt candidate next year due to our depth, but he could play his way on to the field.  I can't wait to watch him show his talents on the big stage.  He seems poised to blow up, since so little is known about his current team.  He's going to be a special player for us in the future.
