Happy Fourth of July Everyone. please celebrate responsibly today.
Today's featured player is one that surprised me last year by earning some decent reps on the defensive line while being a true freshman. he enters 2011 as one of the candidates to replace Ryan Kerrigan.
Ryan Isaac - So.
Hometown: Michigan City, IN (Michigan City HS)
Defensive Tackle
6'5" 260 pounds
2010 projection: Reserve at Defensive end
I expected Isaac to redshirt last season, but instead he worked his way into the lineup for five games, earning seven tackles and a sack in his limited time. that gives him the rare amount of experience he needs to possibly replace Kerrigan. i know he won't immediately replicate Kerrigan's numbers, but it is still impressive that he earned playing time as a true freshman at a position that was not injury ravaged. It is entirely possible he could redshirt this year, but I doubt it.
Isaac had quite a senior season at Michigan City, which has long struggled in the tough Duneland Conference. The three-star recruit had 50 tackles, 8 sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries as the Wolves finished with a 6-4 record. It was Michigan City's first winning record since 2005. He accomplished these stats despite being double teamed on most plays.
